More about this bookseller

I have owned Camden Lock Books since 1984 & list uncommon, in demand and hard to find books. My book expertise came with many years as Chairman of London P.B.F.A. & exhibiting at bookfairs.

My name is Jason Burley. I learnt the trade as a bookdealer at the former Francis Edwards Ltd. 84 Marylebone High Street, London W1 as a teenager, working alongside the late Alan Mitchell, Reg Remington, Anthony Gilbert and Clive Farahar (expert on books and manuscripts on the BBC's Antiques Roadshow, which he joined in 1986). In 1984 I opened my own independent bookshop in Camden, London NW1. In 2002 I opened a bookshop premises in Old Street, London EC1 and in 2015 I opened Burley Fisher Books, my current bookshop, in Haggerston E4. I was chairman of the PBFA (London) for over four years and exhibited at the monthly Russell Hotel, London PBFA Bookfairs for about fifteen years alongside Bernard Shaphero, Jarndyce Books, Blackwell's Rare Books, Jean Hedger, M.E. Korn, Robert Frew, Sotherans and many others. Under my chairmanship, the PBFA (London) founded and established specialist bookfairs (Military, Travel, Art, Children's books) in London. I now focus on cataloguing books online, while my partner, Sam Fisher, runs the bookshop selling new and secondhand books with a permanent staff of four bookdealers. I retired from bookfairs & the PBFA in about 2000, and engaged with internet bookselling directly through my own website. I have recently updated my website for making my books available for purchase and am busy loading new material onto it daily. IOBA provides an additional layer of confidence to potential clients wanting to buy expensive books from me online, people who have not met me or bought books from me in the past and do not therefore personally know who I am. I would always be delighted to meet you by appointment at my central London rare book-room at home or my bookshop, Burley Fisher Books.
