The band Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen was formed in Ann Arbor in 1967. They played the bar scene there, then moved to Berkeley in 1969. They are best known for their 1971 album Lost in the Ozone, and their single Hot Rod Lincoln.

 

The Crabs were a Berkeley band, well respected at the time, but little known today. The New Monk hosted bands and offered pizza and beer. It was located at 2119 University Avenue in Berkeley--where Shattuck Avenue meets University.
